In 1969 The Stirnkorb Company presented to the City of San Marcos their concept for the building of Vallecitos – a 600 unit Planned Residential Community. In June 1970 the first home in Vallecitos was occupied. When Mr. Stirnkorb’s health began to fail, he sold his company to Ronald Ramos and Arnold Jensen, officers in his company. They carried on the Vallecitos Project as the Ramos/Jensen Company. In March 1970 the first CC&R’s were recorded. In April the Articles of Incorporation were recorded and the Vallecitos Protection Corporation was created. This insured the permanent maintenance of all the common areas, through an association of homeowners. The first Home Association meeting was held on September 25, 1970.

The Vallecitos Protective Corporation is a general non-profit corporation with nine homeowners who volunteer to be on the Board of Directors. Committees are formed to assist in conducting business. The primary purpose of the Corporation is to provide maintenance, preservation and architectural control of the 323 homes and common areas. These areas include three parks, a basketball court, park toys and four maintenance islands. Each homeowner is responsible for paying their share of the annual Home Owner Association (HOA) fee, which is due on January 1st each year. All residents should recognize the need for preventing malicious destruction of our park facilities, since the homeowners bare the cost of repairs.

The benefits the Vallecitos Community has to offer are great when you consider our location. We are a short distance to shopping centers and stores which include Stater Brothers, Albertsons, Costco, Wal-Mart and many others. We are in close proximity to transit busing, the Sprinter railway and interstates 15 and 78. Also included within our community are three excellent schools; Knob Hill Elementary, Woodland Middle School and Mission Hills High School. Our recreational facilities include Woodland Park, which has a public pool, and the Hollandia Park which is scheduled to open in 2007. Hollandia Park is a 22-acre park that will feature a skate park. Vallecitos is the ideal community in which to live.
